Assembly will be required, so customers will need to have tools and the skills to use them. Assembly may be simple or complex, depending on the details of the particular workstation. Complex assembly will require more tools and skills
This is an early release of a new product and I suspect that unexpected problems may arise. Early customers must accept that this is not a fully mature design and be prepared to work through any challenges they might encounter
The design is intended to be modular, with possibility to evolve into a system of components that can be adapted for many different uses
Handmade in the USA, by the inventor, using CNC and manual tools
--- Adjustable Vertical Height
With a locking lever and balance springs for easily and frequently adjusting the vertical height during use
--- Vertical Mount
For mounting on a vertical surface like the edge of a bench or the base of a floor model lathe. This gets the rail out of the way but can be a bit more difficult to install if the edge of the bench can't support the rail and angle brackets or a thickened edge are required. I prefer vertical mounting
--- Horizontal Mount
For mounting on a horizontal surface. This is the easiest to install, but it consumes bench space
--- Fixed Vertical Height
With screws for adjusting and locking the vertical height infrequently and leaving it fixed during use. This version seems to not be popular, so it will be available as a special order only
All versions will have a standard rail length of 46". The rails are a bit troublesome, as long ones are somewhat challenging to ship. Longer lengths will be available by special order and will require special packaging
The handle is a plain rectangular piece of hardwood, secured with two screws. It is minimally finished with an oil/varnish finish. After discussion with testers, it seems that users may want to customize, modify or replace the handle to suit their hand size or style
Two axle lengths are available, short (6.5") and long (10"). In most cases, a short axle works best on the slider side and a long axle on the torch side. A long axle can be cut down if needed, but it's made of stainless steel, and is a bit harder than mild steel
Vertical Mount Adjustable Vertical Height $638
Horizontal Mount Adjustable Vertical Height $648

I've been developing an Integrated Lathe Workstation for several months. It consists of a custom welded stand, sliding bunsen mounts, manifolds and a sliding torch arm. I have made and tested 5 torch arm prototypes, including versions with electromagnetic locks like the NQALHA. After lots of testing, I concluded that a simple friction system worked fine without the complexity of electronics
